New Offers:

California's Burgundian Chardonnays

Bruce Neyers knows a bit about Burgundy.  As the national sales rep fro Kermit Lynch Wine Merchants – he has been working with some of the great masters of Chardonnay – names like Coche Dury and Raveneau, true iconic giants in the Wine World.

So it is no surprise that when Bruce wanted to make Chardonnay in California – he would draw on his experience and knowledge gleaned from these masters – Raveneau’s Chablis and Coche Dury’s Corton Charlemagne are THE most sought after Chardonnays, and perhaps white wines in the world (and priced accordingly).

Once again - Bruce has hit a home run with his 2010 Carneros Chardonnay - at only $25!  This is a great deal and a great wine - one that I buy and drink vintage after vintage.  2010 is another stunning success.

2010 Neyers Carneros Chardonnay

reg $29.99 / $24.99 by the case (6)

Wine Spectator 93!  Smart Buy:  "Notably rich and creamy, yet elegant and refined, this Chardonnay delivers a supple, fleshy beam of white peach, nectarine and fresh-cut flower flavors, with a creamy vanilla edge."

Mount Eden's Chassagne Like Bargain - only $19.99!

Mount Eden's owner Jeffrey Patterson knows a bit about Burgundy as well.  His Estate bottling is a California Icon, and perhaps THE MOST AGEWORTHY Chardonnay in the western hemisphere.  But often overlooked among collectors is the the terrific value Wolff vineyard chardonnay - which the IWC says smells like a top notch Chassagne!  For only $19.99 -

2009 Mount Eden Wolff Vineyard Chardonnay

reg $24.99 / $19.99 by the case (6)

Mount Eden is a reference point winery, especially known for fine, ageworthy Chardonnays. Owner and Winemaker Jeffrey Patterson is one of the pioneers of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

We just got in some more of the Wolff vineyard Chardonnay – for the price – I haven’t had a more serious CA chard in a long time.  This wine was aged in neutral oak – and is just pure Chardonnay like only Mount Eden can do.

The IWC gives it a  91 and says it   “smells like a top-notch Chassagne.”

The Wine Advocate also gives it 90 calling it – “attractive …with lovely varietal fruit”

Pale yellow.  Musky, powerfully scented aromas of orchard fruits, smoky lees, truffle and iodine; smells like a top-notch Chassagne.  Weighty and round but sharply focused, offering fresh pear, peach, tangerine and buttered toast flavors.  The iodine element returns on the long, smoky finish.  Lots going on here, especially for the price. 91 points

Band Together

Band Together, a local charity that raises funds and awareness for select non-profit partners through various gatherings during the year, and anchored by a major Spring event.  This year their charity partner is Urban Ministries.

Like last year, I am trying to secure wine donations for the VIP tent at the event at Koka Booth Ampitheatre in Cary on May 12th.  Your donation of a case (or more) at $180 case will help to  provide excellent wines for the VIPs to make their experience even better.

The 2012 event will be held at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary on May 12 and the B-52s will be the headliner entertainment.  Band Together and Urban Ministries’ goal is to raise $600,000 from this event.

About Band Together -  Band Together NC - Raise Funds. Raise Awareness. Raise the Bar.
In November 2001, a group of more than 40 young business leaders from across the Triangle came together to raise funds for the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.  Through these efforts, more than $60,000 was raised for the DC and NYC relief funds in an event that brought more than 1000 people together from around the Triangle.

Following that event, Band Together formed its own non-profit with a mission to raise funds for select Triangle nonprofits through events that showcase and support musical talent.  To date, we have partnered with 12 deserving nonprofits to raise almost $1.5 million with the help of an incredible, giving Triangle community! And while the dollar figure is large, it is the number of people in the Triangle who we have helped that truly matters.  Some of the organizations that have partnered with Band Together include The Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood, SAFEchild, Wake County Boys and Girls Clubs, StepUP Ministries, and most recently Alliance Medical Ministry.
